Description
An Imperial German Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse), 1914 series, non-combatant version. The medal is of three-piece construction, featuring a blackened magnetic iron core set within a silvered metal frame. The item is mounted with the reverse side facing forward, displaying the design established by King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia. This includes a crown over the initials FW on the top arm, a central cluster of three oak leaves, and the date 1813 on the bottom arm. The medal is attached to a non-combatant ribbon, which consists of a white field with two black side stripes. The entire piece is housed in a dark-stained wooden frame with a glass front and a dark backing.
