Lot 374:
Description
A pair of contemporary high-relief decorative sculptures, each mounted through a rectangular pane of clear glass and set into a matching composite base. The figures are constructed from a cast resin or stone-based composite material with an antiqued, ivory-coloured finish. The glass panes are held within thin metallic-painted frames. The first sculpture depicts two cherubs or putti in high relief against a textured, rugged background, mounted on a base fashioned to resemble an open book. The second sculpture depicts an infant wearing a cap nestled inside a large corn husk, set into a base shaped like a rough-hewn stone block. This piece is attributed to Mark Klaus, resembling designs from the Treasure of the Corn series. These items are consistent with late 20th-century interior decorative giftware.
