Lot 363:
Description
A set of Noritake fine porcelain lustreware produced in Japan for the export market. The set comprises two cylindrical coffee cans, two matching saucers, a cream jug with a high-swept handle, and a small lidded pot with a circular gilt finial, possibly for mustard or preserves. The decoration features a central transfer-printed and hand-painted fruit motif depicting apples and purple grapes set against a pearlescent cream lustre ground. The pieces are finished with vibrant orange-to-peach lustre borders and gilt accents on the handles, rims, and finials. The base of the pieces bears a green printed mark featuring the name Noritake in cursive script above a circular Maruki symbol and the text MADE IN JAPAN. This mark indicates production during the early to mid-20th century, specifically the Art Deco period circa 1920s-1930s.
