Description

This collection consists of three pieces of English glazed earthenware. The first item is a large octagonal serving platter by Royal Doulton in the Woburn pattern, identified by the pattern code D 4654. The decoration consists of stylized floral sprays in white, yellow, and red set against black branch-like motifs, featuring hand-painted details over a black transfer-printed outline. The platter is finished with a hand-painted black rim. The base features a green backstamp with the pattern name Woburn in script, a lion standing on a crown, and a circular mark containing the words Royal Doulton England. It also bears registration numbers RD NO 597,783 and RD NO 725,677, alongside an impressed numeral 1.

The collection also includes a pair of circular tea or dessert plates with gadrooned rims, produced by Newport Pottery under the Clarice Cliff brand. These plates feature a cream-coloured ground decorated with hand-painted central floral sprays in shades of brown, ochre, red, and green. Both plates bear a brown transfer backstamp on the reverse reading Clarice Cliff, Newport Pottery, Burslem England, and the registration number REGD NO 840076. One plate has the numeral 50 impressed, while the other features the impressed numeral 74.
