Description
This lot consists of two English ceramic ginger jars with covers, produced in the Staffordshire pottery district. The larger jar is an earthenware vessel by Sadler, decorated with a transfer-printed and hand-enamelled floral pattern featuring stylised chrysanthemums and peonies in yellow, pink, and red tones on a cream ground. The domed cover displays a central floral motif and a geometric border. The base carries a blue printed mark with a crown and banner for Sadler, Staffordshire. The smaller jar is a Mason’s Patent Ironstone piece in the Paynsley pattern, featuring transfer-printed floral sprays on a white ground. The cover is decorated with a matching floral spray and a green lace-effect border.
