Description
An assortment of antique and vintage wooden boxes of various forms and styles. The group includes 19th-century sarcophagus-form boxes, likely tea caddies or vanity boxes, featuring stepped lids and circular keyholes, constructed with mahogany or rosewood veneers. Also featured is a larger rectangular box with a textured diamond-patterned exterior, possibly leather-covered or incised wood, fitted with a recessed brass handle to the lid and a brass escutcheon. The collection also contains a smaller rectangular wooden box featuring hand-carved foliate and floral motifs to the lid and sides, resembling the style of carved camphor wood. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
