Lot 107:
Description
A mid-20th century industrial single-pedestal desk in the tanker style, likely of British manufacture. The carcass is constructed from pressed steel with a dark olive-drab or charcoal grey enamelled finish. The rectangular top features a dark grey linoleum or laminate writing surface finished with a contrasting light-coloured protective metal edge trim. The desk is configured with a single pedestal to the right-hand side containing two drawers, comprising a shallow upper stationery drawer and a deep lower filing drawer. A further shallow frieze drawer is located centrally beneath the writing surface. The drawers are fitted with brushed metal bow-shaped handles. A circular aperture, likely for a lock or a punch-out, is located above the top pedestal drawer; no key is present. The unit stands on square-section legs terminating in black plastic or rubber floor protectors. This style of furniture is frequently associated with manufacturers such as Steelcase, Art Metal, or General Fireproofing.
