A pair of antique horse harness hames, likely dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. These civilian draught horse components are constructed from wrought iron over a wooden core, with the wood visible on one of the items. The hames feature a distinctive curved profile, each terminating in a decorative scroll-form hook at the upper end. The lower ends are fitted with heavy iron loops and rings intended for the attachment of traces. The metal retains a black-painted finish. No maker marks are clearly visible, although a small white label is present on one bar. The components are currently bound together with green twine.
