A taxidermy shoulder mount of a Coke’s Hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus cokii), also known as a Kongoni. The specimen exhibits the distinctive elongated, narrow facial profile of the species, featuring a pair of heavily annulated horns that curve backwards and slightly outwards from the base. The head and neck are mounted in a straight-ahead position and fixed to a shaped wooden shield plaque for wall hanging. The specimen is fitted with inset glass eyes. This item is characteristic of late 19th or early 20th-century natural history specimens common in UK colonial-era collections.
