This antique cylindrical hand-pump sprayer or atomiser is of French manufacture, produced by the firm E. Greve et Cie of Paris. The main vessel is constructed from copper with a cylindrical body and a domed top. The nozzle assembly, filling cap, and central identification plate are made of cast brass. The copper body is formed from sheet metal with soldered seams. The item features a large, rectangular brass plaque embossed with several lines of French text. The top section reads Pulverisateur Systeme Turatoire, followed by Brevete S.G.D.G. and E. Greve et Cie Paris. The main body of the plaque is headed Mode d’Emploi (Instructions for Use) followed by several lines of instructional text in French. This item is characteristic of French industrial and agricultural equipment from the early 20th century, circa 1900 to 1930. The Brevete S.G.D.G. mark was a standard French patent designation during this period. The device is fitted with a thumb-operated lever on the nozzle assembly and a threaded brass filling cap.
