This lot consists of a trio of English earthenware plates manufactured during the mid-20th century. Included are two matching round plates with a cream-coloured glaze and a distinctive ribbed and scalloped rim. The centre of each is decorated with a hand-painted floral spray featuring a russet-brown blossom and yellow flower with green foliage. The reverse of these plates bears the Clarice Cliff script mark for Newport Pottery, Burslem, England, with the registration number 840076 and impressed numeral 140. The registration number indicates the design was registered circa 1940. The third item is a larger octagonal plate with a white ground and a hand-painted black rim. The piece features a wide border of stylized flowers on a dark vine in the Gainsborough pattern attributed to Spode.
