A static display model of the British Railways Standard Class 7 ‘Britannia’ Class 4-6-2 steam locomotive, running number 70000 ‘Britannia’. The model is constructed from die-cast metal and plastic components and is finished in BR Brunswick Green livery with orange and black lining. It features a red nameplate above the front driving wheels with the characters BRITANNIA and the cab side is marked 70000. The tender bears the early British Railways crest featuring a lion straddling a wheel.
The model is mounted on a black plastic display plinth which incorporates a section of moulded track. A label on the plinth reads 1951: BR ‘7MT’ 4-6-2 No. 70000 Britannia followed by a small British Railways ‘lion and wheel’ emblem. This item is characteristic of part-work collection series produced for magazine publishers.
