A Southeast Asian gilt metal figure depicting a seated Buddha. The deity is portrayed as Jambupati, the Crowned Buddha, wearing an ornate multi-pointed crown and decorative jewellery. The figure is presented in a meditative seated position, known as dhyanasana, upon a stepped and waisted pedestal base, with the hands held in the dhyana mudra. The object is cast from metal and features a traditional finish of gold gilding applied over a reddish-brown lacquer ground. The stylistic elements are characteristic of the Burmese Mandalay tradition, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. A white tag with the printed numerals 0168 is visible in the background, serving as a lot or inventory label.
