A vintage West German ceramic Rumtopf jar and matching lid. The vessel is of ovoid form, crafted from earthenware with a vibrant reddish-brown high-gloss glaze. The body features relief-moulded decoration, including a central circular medallion containing a fruit motif, surmounted by the word RUMTOPF in raised capital letters. The vessel is flanked by two integral lug handles at the shoulder. The domed lid features a textured, knobbly surface suggestive of fruit clusters, and is finished with a dark, mottled glaze around the rim and knob. This style of kitchenware is characteristic of mid-20th-century West German pottery manufacturers such as Scheurich or Bay Keramik.
