An early 20th-century bar brooch of Edwardian design, crafted in 9 carat yellow gold. The brooch features a slender knife-edge bar that supports a central openwork diamond-shaped frame. Housed within this frame is a single oval-cut amethyst in a rub-over setting. The central section is flanked by two circular motifs with rope-twist borders, each containing a cream-coloured seed pearl. The reverse of the central diamond panel is stamped with the mark 9ct, indicating the gold purity. The brooch is fitted with a hinged pin and a traditional C-clasp mechanism.
