A German fine white porcelain pedestal compote or decorative bowl produced by Müller and Co. of Volkstedt, Thuringia. The item features a flared body with extensive hand-pierced reticulation in a scrolling foliate pattern, culminating in a scalloped rim. The bowl is supported by a short, circular pedestal foot. The exterior is decorated with a garland of three-dimensionally applied porcelain roses and buds, hand-tinted in shades of cobalt and sky blue. Hand-applied gilded accents highlight the rim, the scrollwork of the reticulation, and the edge of the foot. To the underside of the base is an underglaze blue mark consisting of two crossed curved lines with scrolled terminals and a capital letter M positioned between the upper arms.
