This decorative desk or trinket box is constructed from a wooden frame encased in five embossed brass panels. The panels feature a repeating textured pattern imitating crocodile or alligator skin and are secured to the frame with small brass pins along the borders. The hinged lid is surmounted by a cast brass handle in a stylised foliate scroll design. The interior reveals a darkened wooden surface. The construction technique and aesthetic are characteristic of mid-20th century European decorative metalware. No maker marks or signatures are visible.
