A vintage rectangular storage chest of long, shallow proportions, featuring a wood-lined frame encased in a galvanised metal skin. The exterior surface retains remnants of a black painted finish, which exhibits extensive flaking and distress, revealing the underlying metal patination. The lid is secured by a pair of metal flip-lock latches to the front face. The structure is reinforced with metal strapping to the base and rear, and features protective metal brackets at the corners. Its dimensions and construction are consistent with an early twentieth-century tool chest or a motor trunk intended for external vehicle storage. No visible maker marks are present.
