A collection of glazed ceramic Toby and character jugs, characteristic of 20th-century Staffordshire manufacture. The group includes a matching pair of full-bodied Toby jugs depicting a seated man in traditional 18th-century attire, featuring dark tricorn hats, maroon frock coats, yellow waistcoats, and green breeches, each holding a foaming mug of ale. Also included is a central character figure or jug of a seated gentleman in a red-plumed tricorn hat, white tunic, and maroon cloak, holding a staff. The collection is completed by a small character jug depicting a male head and shoulders in a black tricorn hat, and a character jug in the form of a Yeoman of the Guard, wearing a traditional Tudor bonnet and red and yellow tunic. The items are constructed from glazed polychrome ceramic. No maker marks are visible in the provided images.
