A pair of circular, high-relief (alto-rilievo) decorative wall plaques, each depicting a detailed interior genre scene in a Continental style. The plaques are constructed from chalk, and finished with a bronzed or yellowish cold-painted patina to the relief areas. They are mounted within deep, circular, dark-stained frames. One plaque depicts a tavern or domestic interior where a seated woman and two men are engaged at a table, with a background featuring a tiled stove, a wall clock, and a mounted stag head with antlers. The second plaque shows a man in traditional Alpine-style attire seated at a table with two women, in a room containing a large tiled stove, a tall clock, and a framed picture of a ship. The costumes and interior details suggest a Germanic or Austrian origin, typical of decorative items produced for the British market in the late 19th or early 20th century. No signatures, maker marks, or inscriptions are visible on the surfaces.
