This framed print on paper is after the military illustrations of Reginald Augustus Wymer (British, 1849-1935). The composition provides a chronological study of the uniforms worn by the Scots Guards from 1760 to 1885. It features multiple vignettes of soldiers in varied ceremonial and field dress, including musicians and officers. Small printed dates identifying the uniform periods, such as 1760, 1797, 1812, 1834, and 1885, are positioned near the relevant groups. The bottom centre margin bears the printed title SCOTS GUARDS – 1760 – 1885 followed by the artist’s name R. WYMER. The work is signed in the plate RW 1884 at the lower left. A handwritten dedication in blue ink to the lower right corner reads To Matthew and Cynthia at Tudor Cottage From Derek and Ursula MARCH 1988. The print is presented in a dark-stained wooden frame with a gilded inner slip and glazing.
