A late 19th-century British commemorative chromolithograph on paper. The central composition is divided into three horizontal vignettes. The uppermost panel depicts a cavalry engagement, possibly from the Crimean War. The middle panel illustrates a naval battle involving multi-decked sailing ships of the line amidst heavy cannon smoke. The lowermost panel shows a military encampment in a coastal or arid landscape, featuring soldiers in traditional red-coat uniforms. These central scenes are enclosed within an elaborate Orientalist-style decorative border with scrolling foliate motifs, containing twelve circular portrait medallions of significant military and political leaders of the period. The work is presented in a glazed, dark wood frame with a gilt inner slip and a blue mount. A vertical centre fold or join is visible through the middle of the composition. No signatures, maker’s marks, or inscriptions are clearly legible in the provided images.
