An Edwardian stained hardwood hall settle The piece features a high back inset with two rectangular panels carved with scrolling foliate and floral motifs. The settle is designed with shaped, flat-topped armrests over panelled sides. It includes a hinged wooden seat that opens to reveal a storage compartment. The lower section comprises a single large drawer fitted with two decorative brass-toned drop handles and a central keyhole. The entire unit is raised on low block feet. The wood appears to be a fine-grained hardwood, such as walnut or stained oak, finished in a dark tone. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the piece.
