Description

A collection of UK commemorative cupro-nickel crowns and medallions. The group includes two 1951 Festival of Britain five-shilling crowns (KM# 880), one presented in a maroon case and the other in a green cardboard box embossed Festival of Britain 1951. The lot contains a strip of five 1980 Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother 80th Birthday crowns (KM# 921) in Midland Bank branded plastic pouches. Also included are a 1977 Silver Jubilee crown (KM# 920), a 1981 Royal Wedding crown (KM# 925), and a 1965 Winston Churchill commemorative crown (KM# 910). Further coins are housed in Lloyds Bank branded pouches and a blue cardboard box. These items are struck in cupro-nickel. The 1951 crown was issued for the Festival of Britain and represents the first cupro-nickel crown issue.
