Lot 406:
Description
This antique shoe horn features an ornate repousse handle, likely composed of silver or silver plate, paired with a polished natural horn blade. The handle terminal is decorated with a neoclassical mask or cherub head surrounded by acanthus leaf scrolls. The lower portion of the handle depicts a long-legged bird, possibly a crane or stork, standing amongst floral and foliate motifs. The blade is constructed from a dark brown, polished natural material. Several small, rectangular indentations are present on the narrow collar of the handle just above the blade, though these marks are not clearly legible.
