Description

A circular porcelain plate decorated in the Famille Rose Medallion style, likely produced in the 20th century for the export market. The central medallion depicts a figural scene with seven individuals in traditional Chinese attire gathered around a table on a terrace. This central motif is surrounded by a dense border of polychrome enamelled flowers, including peonies and chrysanthemums. The outer rim is finished with a heavy gilded ground featuring four lobed reserves containing floral sprays and green scrolling foliage. The reverse is glazed in white and bears an iron-red four-character seal mark reading Qianlong Nian Zhi (Made during the reign of Qianlong). This is an apocryphal mark, as the style of enamelling and the presence of a stamped number 14 indicate a later production date, likely mid-to-late 20th century.
