Description

This collection comprises several British Second World War service items, including campaign medals and a civilian defence badge. The group features three Defence Medals (1939-1945) manufactured from cupro-nickel. The obverse of the medals depicts the uncrowned effigy of King George VI facing left, with the circular inscription GEORGIVS VI D: G: BR: OMN: REX ET INDIAE IMP:. The reverse shows the Royal Crown positioned above an oak sapling, flanked by two lions, with the text THE DEFENCE MEDAL and the dates 1939 and 1945. These medals are equipped with swivel suspender bars and remain unnamed as issued to United Kingdom personnel. The collection also includes an Air Raid Precautions (ARP) lapel badge in white metal, featuring a Tudor Crown above a shield embossed with the letters ARP. A length of original Defence Medal ribbon is present, featuring a wide central flame-orange stripe flanked by green stripes, each containing a thin black vertical stripe.
