Description

A pair of United Kingdom commemorative coin sets issued by the Royal Mint. The first set is the 1977 Silver Jubilee souvenir set, housed in a red plastic presentation folder inscribed with the royal cypher and dates 1952 and 1977. It contains a central 1977 cupro-nickel crown featuring the Queen on horseback, surrounded by six decimal coins: 50, 10, and 5 New Pence in cupro-nickel, and 2, 1, and 1/2 New Pence/Penny in bronze. The second set is the 1970 Royal Mint proof set, often referred to as the Last Lsd set, presented in a purple folder with a gold-blocked royal crest. This set contains the full series of pre-decimal coinage dated 1970, including a Half Crown, Two Shillings, two One Shilling coins (English and Scottish variants), Sixpence, a 12-sided nickel-brass Threepence, a bronze Penny, and a bronze Halfpenny. The 1970 set represents the final year of pre-decimal coinage production for the United Kingdom.
