Description
This lot comprises two mantel clocks of British origin, dating from the mid-20th century and featuring Art Deco design elements. The first clock is a Smiths Enfield mantel clock with a dark brown Bakelite phenolic resin case in a Napoleonic hat silhouette. The dial is marked Smiths and Enfield at the 12 o’clock position and Made in Great Britain at the 6 o’clock position. It features a silvered chapter ring with black Arabic numerals, a gold-tone inner bezel, and ornate pierced gold-tone hands. The mechanical movement has two winding apertures. The second clock is an Art Deco style wooden mantel clock in a Napoleonic hat form, constructed from dark stained wood with stepped feet. The circular brass-tone dial features black Arabic numerals and a hinged glazed bezel. No maker’s mark is visible on the dial or case. The mechanical movement includes two winding apertures.
