Lot 293:
Description
A large four-bladed ship’s propeller of likely UK maritime origin, sand-cast from a copper alloy such as manganese bronze. The central hub is constructed with a tapered bore and a single integrated keyway for mounting to a shaft. The surface is characterised by a heavy, naturally aged patina. A small white circular adhesive label with the number 17 is present on one blade. The flat face of the central hub contains several shallow, indented stamped marks which are obscured by surface oxidation and wear, rendering them illegible.
