Description
This mid-century art pottery ewer is of West German origin, featuring a globular body and a narrow neck that flares into an elongated, asymmetrical pointed spout. A simple loop handle is attached between the shoulder and the neck. The vessel is decorated with a high-gloss gradient glaze that transitions from a dark brown base to an olive-green and mustard-coloured upper section. The base of the piece features moulded relief markings including the word GERMANY in an arc, the model number 281, and the height indicator 17. This style and marking format are characteristic of West German art pottery manufacturers from the mid-20th century.
