Description
An art glass figurine of a standing clown, The piece is constructed from hand-blown clear and multi-coloured glass using traditional Venetian techniques. The figure features an applied green glass top hat, yellowish-amber hair, and a white opaque glass mouth with black eyes. A large, flared translucent amber collar is positioned above a clear glass torso decorated with three applied green glass buttons. The hands are rendered in white opaque glass with scalloped edges. The lower body and legs are composed of clear glass containing internal multi-coloured glass inclusions in shades of red, yellow, and green, often referred to as macchie. The figurine is supported by large, exaggerated black glass shoes. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
