Lot 260:
Description
This collection comprises decorative art glass pieces characteristic of mid-20th-century European production, specifically in the style of Murano, Italy. The group includes a heavy-walled triangular dish featuring the sommerso technique with a vibrant blue core encased in a thick layer of clear glass. Also included is a free-form cased glass bowl with a pulled rim, featuring shades of emerald green and deep blue with yellow accents at the base. The collection contains two animal figurines: a solid-cast translucent blue fish with a lighter blue gradient towards the tail, and a hand-formed clear glass swan with blue accents on the head and neck and a ribbed body. Completing the set is a spherical paperweight containing an internal multi-coloured swirl pattern in shades of terracotta, white, blue, and black. These items utilise traditional glassmaking techniques including free-blowing, hand-forming, and submerged layering. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the bases or bodies of the pieces.
