Lot 134:
Description
A French Provincial style chest of drawers, mid-to-late 20th century, attributed to the Sears French Provincial range. The wooden construction features an off-white painted finish with five graduated drawers, each accented with a gold-toned pinstripe border. Due to the opaque finish, the primary and secondary wood species cannot be definitively identified. The drawer fronts are fitted with what appear to be the original cast-metal scroll-style bale handles with decorative backplates. The uppermost drawer is embellished with a central applied decorative wreath and garland motif. The chest features a moulded top and a shaped lower apron with a central carved scroll, raised on four short cabriole legs with carved foliate details at the knees. Internal drawer construction, including dovetailing, was not visible for inspection. No significant alterations are apparent.
