Description
A mid-century modern side chair manufactured for British government or military use. The piece features a minimalist frame constructed from a reddish-brown stained hardwood with a square profile. The backrest consists of four horizontal slats above a drop-in seat upholstered in sage green textured vinyl. The inner wooden seat rail bears several official markings, including the British Government Broad Arrow or Pheon symbol. It is stamped with the identification numbers 7 1 0 5 6 9 1 2 0 3 7 8 8. The prefix 7105 corresponds to the NATO furniture classification and the digits 69 denote the year of manufacture. Faint incised characters N H are visible to the right of the arrow. The chair is built with square-section legs and internal corner blocks for structural reinforcement.
