Description
A Victorian low-seated armchair, characteristic of a mid-to-late 19th-century salon or nursing chair. The frame is constructed from a dark-stained hardwood, possibly walnut. The chair features a padded backrest with deep button tufting and scroll-carved arms supported by turned spindles. The seat is raised on two ring-turned front legs with brass casters and two splayed square-section rear legs. The item is upholstered in a salmon-pink fabric with a cream trellis pattern and finished with a decorative gimp border. The upholstery is a later replacement.
