Description
A pair of Victorian mahogany balloon-back side chairs. Each chair is constructed with a rounded balloon-shaped back frame featuring a central horizontal splat carved with C-scroll and foliate motifs. The chairs feature stuffed-over serpentine-fronted seats upholstered in a teal-blue fabric, finished with a decorative braided trim. The front supports consist of substantial turned and fluted legs, while the rear legs are of square-section and splayed. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the frames. The upholstery is a later replacement.
